Varennes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Todd Gronow was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 9 minutes into the match, Todd Gronow notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Varennes's Gilberto Boone. Gilberto Boone was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gilberto Boone stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Todd Gronow's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. When Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC's Todd Gronow in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Seth Luke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Abelardo Janpier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Abelardo Janpier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurice Odonnell in the 42nd minute of play. Abelardo Janpier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardo Goudreau, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Todd Gronow in the 45th minute of play forced Varennes's goalkeeper Gilberto Boone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC made a substitution. Mariusz Ratulowski replaced Todd Gronow. Varennes made a substitution. Titus Pineda replaced Bernardo Goudreau. Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC's Hayri Pitirimov was substituted for Gerardo Etxepare. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mariusz Ratulowski got free with Gilberto Boone in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 70th minute of the match Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC got a corner. Varennes's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Zhuo Bo Bo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Varennes's goalie and right to Ildefonso Foro. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Varennes's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. A collision led to Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Martin Justin hit a great ball. Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC made a substitution. Andreas Harlén replaced Ildefonso Foro. The supporters of Varennes booed when Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Justin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st minute Titus Pineda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abelardo Janpier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mariusz Ratulowski could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Gilberto Boone made a huge save. 92 minutes into the match, Varennes's Titus Pineda sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Abelardo Janpier narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
