Vinará FC's Hugo Nazario played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rod Pettifer in the 10th minute of play. If Eleuterio Frederico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 20th minute, Johnnie Crowther reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Hugo Nazario. The goal made the score 1-0. Amadeo Esquipula charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Amadeo Esquipula the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Amadeo Esquipula hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Oscar Crossman kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Kelvin Caine struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Hugo Nazario didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Basel. Hugo Nazario stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wlodzimierz Kieca's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. If Rod Pettifer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wlodzimierz Kieca's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 41stth minute, Hugo Nazario skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Amadeo Esquipula kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Gustavo Aznar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wlodzimierz Kieca was the one to do the kick off. Hugo Nazario showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johnnie Crowther in the 54th minute of the match. Hugo Nazario made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wlodzimierz Kieca in the 60th minute of play. Wlodzimierz Kieca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The FC Basel fans' excitement grew in the 64th match minute when FC Basel's Rod Pettifer looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 71 minutes into the match, Johnnie Crowther had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hugo Nazario. Vinará FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Johnnie Crowther was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. After a rather tough play, Vinará FC's Gustavo Aznar got a free kick in the 74th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rod Pettifer in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hugo Nazario prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 82nd minute Wlodzimierz Kieca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Nazario saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 84 minutes into the game, Johnnie Crowther cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Hugo Nazario was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 86 minutes into the match, Vinará FC's goal looked a bit too open when Wlodzimierz Kieca came free, but Hugo Nazario reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Basel's Rod Pettifer got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 91st minute, Agustin Illan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hugo Nazario stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wlodzimierz Kieca's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC Basel fully deserved thier win.
