Misericordia EC's Wágner Ribeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Augusto Guimarães in the 16th minute of play. Misericordia EC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Otto Fesik 19 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. Wágner Ribeiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atlético Capixaba. Bob Dinamite took the corner. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by Atlético Capixaba's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Bob Dinamite was slow to take the kick. During this time Misericordia EC's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Misericordia EC's corner Bob Dinamite fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Murilo da Fonseca quite easily take care of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Augusto Guimarães got free with Wágner Ribeiro in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wágner Ribeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Augusto Guimarães in the 36th minute of play. In the 36th match minute, Misericordia EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zico Matamoros to maneuver through the defense. If Otto Fesik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 51stth minute of the game Otto Fesik who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Misericordia EC's Wágner Ribeiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Otto Fesik might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wágner Ribeiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Otto Fesik ran back to his position shaking his head. 56 minutes into the match, Misericordia EC's goal looked a bit too open when Otto Fesik came free, but Wágner Ribeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
