RIO DE JANEIRO's Hamílton Cerezo managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Urbasa Salgado in the 8 minute of the game. If Hamílton Cerezo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Urbasa Salgado's late challenge caught a E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Urbasa Salgado helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to ReyPoxo getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Urbasa Salgado hit a great ball. Luís Fábio Bittencourt came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by ReyPoxo's Sindo Caminero. But to his dismay, Sindo Caminero quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Sindo Caminero recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luís Fábio Bittencourt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaitano Noya in the 19th minute of play. In the 25th minute, Gaitano Noya ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luís Fábio Bittencourt was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 29th minute, Xicu Teruel sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Luís Fábio Bittencourt didn't even have to move. With an all-out effort, E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Quinton Pais threw himself towards the right post 33 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Aírton Prado, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's attentive Hamílton Cerezo managed to snatch the ball when Urbasa Salgado made a throw-in in the 35th minute of the game. The throw-in from Urbasa Salgado in the 41st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's André Dante. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xicu Teruel in the 47th minute of play forced E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goalkeeper Luís Fábio Bittencourt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Jorge Lima hit a great ball. Sindo Caminero took the ball and in the 49 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luís Fábio Bittencourt. Luís Fábio Bittencourt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sindo Caminero to strike the kick off in the second half. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Luís Fábio Bittencourt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sindo Caminero in the 55th minute of play. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's André Dante managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Urbasa Salgado in the 58 minute of the game. André Dante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Quinton Pais tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Urbasa Salgado in the 70th minute of play forced E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goalkeeper Luís Fábio Bittencourt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 73 minutes into the match, E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goal looked a bit too open when Gaitano Noya came free, but Luís Fábio Bittencourt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as ReyPoxo's Gaitano Noya slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Luís Fábio Bittencourt. That made the score 1-4 after 78 minutes of play. Sindo Caminero scored 1-5 in the 83rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luís Fábio Bittencourt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Sindo Caminero managed to get in a good position for a shot. ReyPoxo's supporters rose to their feet, but Sindo Caminero was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Fábio Bittencourt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's André Dante got a free kick in the 97th minute.
