Dida Baiano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Joel Branco made a huge save. With an all-out effort, Vascogoianiense FC's Joel Branco threw himself towards the right post 11 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Manuel Segovia, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. A collision led to Werneck FC - DMZ getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Virgílio Toledo hit a great ball. Manuel Segovia hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Joel Branco came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Vascogoianiense FC's Matheus Paraíba. But to his dismay, Matheus Paraíba quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 35th minute João Pirani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Branco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel Branco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Eduardo Sergipano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th minute, Vascogoianiense FC's Matheus Paraíba dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Caco Corrêa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Joel Branco didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Matheus Paraíba went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. After 61 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Eduardo Sergipano. After some careless play in the Werneck FC - DMZ defense, Hélder Trigo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joel Branco. The Werneck FC - DMZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joel Branco should have stopped the shot. 73 minutes into the match, João Pirani notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Werneck FC - DMZ's Joel Branco. Joel Branco was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Werneck FC - DMZ booed when Vascogoianiense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Eduardo Sergipano didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Breno Zonta kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Bernardo Corrêa. That made the score 5-1 in the 78 minute of play. 81 minutes into the game, Vascogoianiense FC's Hélder Trigo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joel Branco made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-1. 84 minutes into the game, Matheus Paraíba cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-1. Joel Branco was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 87 minutes into the match, Matheus Paraíba had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joel Branco. Werneck FC - DMZ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Matheus Paraíba was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-1. João Pirani recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 93 minutes into the match, Werneck FC - DMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Segovia came free, but Joel Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There was no doubt that Vascogoianiense FC were the better team. Vascogoianiense FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
