The supporters of El Retorno de Palermo booed when Chaves do 8 FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christiano de Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aaron Cebo succeeded in the game's 13th minute to get real power on a long shot . Chaves do 8 FC's Armando Barbosa hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 0-1! If Angelino Bernard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. Filiberto Fidele made an important save on a dangerous shot by Celsinho de Medeiros in the 34th minute. After 38 minutes Chaves do 8 FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Aaron Cebo who took care of the corner kick. Sydney Toscano thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Armando Barbosa, a very annoying self made goal in the 39th minute which led to 0-3. A collision led to Chaves do 8 FC getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Juninho Lara hit a great ball. Angelino Bernard blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Armando Barbosa having to make a save. Hilario Mikeldi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half El Retorno de Palermo were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rubens Prata to make the kick off. El Retorno de Palermo's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
