The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With 3 minutes on the clock, Robert Balla commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Thomas Schmuck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reynaldo Leite in the 7th minute of play. Jan-Niclas Ebus was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 10th minute. Poli Timisoara's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 13 minutes into the game, Jens-Uwe Lack recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Andrézinho Valladares. Jens-Uwe Lack showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Jan-Niclas Ebus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jens-Uwe Lack took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andrézinho Valladares. Andrézinho Valladares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. When Jan-Niclas Ebus came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Poli Timisoara fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jan-Niclas Ebus couldn't finish the play. Dominic Haug struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Andrézinho Valladares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Poli Timisoara. Jens-Uwe Lack received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Bandeirinha AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Poli Timisoara the free kick.
