River de Ramos Mejía's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jaime Indartsu in the 6th minute. The corner led to River de Ramos Mejía's Leo Ortle getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 8 minutes into the match, Gavião Kyikatejê's goalkeeper Kenneth McGilbert had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cirilo Oinatz. Kenneth McGilbert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Indartsu in the 9th minute of the match. When Leo Ortle fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored River de Ramos Mejía's protests and gave Leo Ortle a yellow card for diving instead. The throw-in from Hector Orti in the 18th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Gavião Kyikatejê's Edward McIndoe. The supporters of Gavião Kyikatejê booed when River de Ramos Mejía was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfonso Marques didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jaime Indartsu took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kenneth McGilbert. Kenneth McGilbert dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. After 28 played minutes River de Ramos Mejía got a freekick which was hit by Alfonso Marques. After 31 played minutes Gavião Kyikatejê got a freekick which was hit by Gregor Nelson. Sid Park's late challenge caught a River de Ramos Mejía's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sid Park helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Gavião Kyikatejê's Sid Park got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Kenneth McGilbert made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cirilo Oinatz in the 35th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cirilo Oinatz got free with Kenneth McGilbert in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 42 minutes into the match, Gavião Kyikatejê's goalkeeper Kenneth McGilbert had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cirilo Oinatz. Gavião Kyikatejê's Kenneth McGilbert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Indartsu in the 44th minute of play. Cirilo Oinatz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A sloppy throw-in by Alfonso Marques in the 46th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Gavião Kyikatejê's Edward McIndoe. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sid Park to make the kick off. Sid Park could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Dionisio Aureo made a huge save. A collision led to Gavião Kyikatejê getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Steve McWattie hit a great ball. 56 minutes into the match, Gavião Kyikatejê's goal looked a bit too open when Leo Ortle came free, but Kenneth McGilbert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Jaime Indartsu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cirilo Oinatz might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kenneth McGilbert. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cirilo Oinatz ran back to his position shaking his head. Kenneth McGilbert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Indartsu in the 63rd minute of the match. River de Ramos Mejía's Alfonso Marques got his second yellow card of the match in the 68th minute. The referee ordered Alfonso Marques off the ground. In the 68th match minute, River de Ramos Mejía was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfonso Marques to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 75 minutes, Cirilo Oinatz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River de Ramos Mejía's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cirilo Oinatz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gavião Kyikatejê's goalkeeper Kenneth McGilbert, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Steve McWattie hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. If Cirilo Oinatz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kenneth McGilbert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cirilo Oinatz in the 86th minute of play. River de Ramos Mejía's Cirilo Oinatz got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. River de Ramos Mejía's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
