Martin Berdaitz was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 5th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Martin Berdaitz's late challenge caught a Vista Alegre FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Martin Berdaitz helped the player get up and apologised. In the 11th minute, Martin Berdaitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vista Alegre FC's Hortêncio Senna got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Hortêncio Senna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vista Alegre FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hortêncio Senna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baltasar Valiente breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Baltasar Valiente made an important save on a dangerous shot by Antônio Carlos Vander in the 18th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hortêncio Senna in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Baltasar Valiente saved Atlético Montserrat from getting behind. Baltasar Valiente made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Vander in the 19th minute of play. After some careless play in the Vista Alegre FC defense, Luisito Fix kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pedrão Sarmento. The Vista Alegre FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedrão Sarmento should have stopped the shot. Vista Alegre FC's Pedrão Sarmento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isaias Gurutz in the 24th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Hortêncio Senna put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Baltasar Valiente. Antônio Carlos Vander's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Baltasar Valiente firmly grabbed it by the left post. 31 minutes into the match, Atlético Montserrat's goal looked a bit too open when Hortêncio Senna came free, but Baltasar Valiente reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 33rd minute Luisito Fix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrão Sarmento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Atlético Montserrat getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Cesar Ted hit a great ball. Paulo Renato Dracena, 35 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The audience was convinced that Maximo Emeterio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pedrão Sarmento was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Paulo Renato Dracena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Baltasar Valiente tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Baltasar Valiente made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Antônio Carlos Vander sent off a good shot on target. Baltasar Valiente took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benjamim Sampaio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Isaias Gurutz was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Antônio Carlos Vander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baltasar Valiente saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antônio Carlos Vander scored 2-1 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Baltasar Valiente, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 59 minutes, Rogelio Luzea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Montserrat's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rogelio Luzea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With an all-out effort, Atlético Montserrat's Pedrão Sarmento threw himself towards the right post 65 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Isaias Gurutz, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. A collision led to Atlético Montserrat getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Cesar Ted hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hortêncio Senna in the 70th minute of play forced Atlético Montserrat's goalkeeper Baltasar Valiente to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute, Benjamim Sampaio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vista Alegre FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. Vista Alegre FC's Pedrão Sarmento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Severo Cutberto in the 77th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Atlético Montserrat's Severo Cutberto got a free kick in the 80th minute. Hortêncio Senna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 87 minutes Atlético Montserrat's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Paulo Renato Dracena who took care of the corner kick. Paulo Renato Dracena made a great header on Vista Alegre FC's corner, it was just that Atlético Montserrat's Baltasar Valiente managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 93rd minute, Paulo Renato Dracena ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Baltasar Valiente was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-1. When the referee ended the match the Vista Alegre FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
