In the 10th minute, Mugur Martinaș hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 13 minutes into the game, LIVERPOOL FC's Mircea Gheție nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vitor José made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 16th minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Ivo Mello seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Ivo Mello the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ivo Mello had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 15 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for S.E.R. Caxias do Sul! S.E.R. Caxias do Sul:s Vitor José showed great skill when he stopped Marius Slătineanu:s penalty. Horea Mititelu kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Vitor José showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cornel Chiriloaie in the 28th minute of the match. Remus Papaiani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Vitor José tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 41 minutes of play, LIVERPOOL FC's Horea Mititelu made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vitor José was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

LIVERPOOL FC's Martin Buteanu was substituted for Horea Mititelu. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cornel Chiriloaie was the one to do the kick off. After 51 played minutes LIVERPOOL FC got a freekick which was hit by Mugur Martinaș. Dorel Bunescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonas Veloso, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Vitor José made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Mircea Gheție sent off a good shot on target. With an all-out effort, LIVERPOOL FC's Vitor José threw himself towards the right post 66 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Mugur Martinaș, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gavril Ţintă sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ladislao Mazurkiewicz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul booed when LIVERPOOL FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robert Horia didn't get a good kick on the ball. 81 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Buteanu came free, but Vitor José reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute Martin Buteanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitor José saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Vitor José got control of the ball when Mircea Gheție tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 89 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Remo Valle. Cornel Chiriloaie could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Vitor José made a huge save. In the last second Vitor José throw himself and got hold of the ball when Cornel Chiriloaie in the 91stth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Cornel Chiriloaie had several of the S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 91 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-3 score and a disappointed Vitor José as he didn't even see the shot coming. The LIVERPOOL FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
