In the 5th minute Humberto Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xavier Angel Andreu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Eufemio Bermejo came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the FSX UNITED fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eufemio Bermejo couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, FSX UNITED's Omar Angeloni got a free kick in the 17th minute. When the match clock showed 18 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Humberto Maia sped through FSX UNITED's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Xavier Angel Andreu. After having played for 22 minutes, Florián Badilla managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FSX UNITED's supporters crossed their fingers, but Florián Badilla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Chiquinho Vasconcelos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Florián Badilla's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. The supporters of FSX UNITED booed when Botafogo AP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clemente Lopes didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to FSX UNITED getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Adán Tejo hit a great ball. Xavier Angel Andreu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto Maia, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 34 minutes had been played when some careless play by FSX UNITED's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Clóvis das Neves was slow to take the kick. During this time Botafogo AP's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Botafogo AP's Clóvis das Neves to fire away a dangerous shot which Xavier Angel Andreu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 44th minute Humberto Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xavier Angel Andreu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Florián Badilla made the kick off in the second half. Amílton Motta hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Albin Zambrano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Florián Badilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 72nd match minute, Botafogo AP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto Maia to maneuver through the defense. Botafogo AP's Mané Souza was substituted for Clóvis das Neves. Humberto Maia kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. 81 minutes had been played when some careless play by Botafogo AP's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Albin Zambrano was slow to take the kick. During this time FSX UNITED's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Albin Zambrano got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Chiquinho Vasconcelos quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Eufemio Bermejo was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 82nd minute. FSX UNITED's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Florián Badilla in the 84thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Chiquinho Vasconcelos, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Amílton Motta kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Humberto Maia struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Xavier Angel Andreu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Botafogo AP. A collision led to Botafogo AP getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Frank Goiano hit a great ball. Chiquinho Vasconcelos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Florián Badilla in the 94th minute of play. There was no doubt that Botafogo AP were the better team. Botafogo AP's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
