Galatasaray SK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jorge Candeias was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After a rather tough play, Galatasaray SK's Rudolf Pinchuk got a free kick in the 26th minute. After having played for 27 minutes, Jorge Candeias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Academia Monte Gordo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorge Candeias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pavel Fomichev charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pavel Fomichev the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 38 minutes into the match, Academia Monte Gordo's goalkeeper Armindo Silveira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Denis Ispovednikov. In the 40th minute Jorge Candeias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stanislav Kaiturov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Denis Ispovednikov charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Denis Ispovednikov the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. António Mendes struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Stanislav Kaiturov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Academia Monte Gordo. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Stanislav Kaiturov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from António Mendes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 97 minutes into the match, Galatasaray SK's goal looked a bit too open when António Mendes came free, but Stanislav Kaiturov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Academia Monte Gordo walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
