The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Edu Nóbrega got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Igor Maranhense blasted a shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonatan Andersson having to make a save. Giovani Sergipano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 8th minute, Edu Nóbrega hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Trindade Atlético Club's Roberto-Carlos Trindade got a free kick in the 10th minute. 11 minutes into the match, Trindade Atlético Club's goal looked a bit too open when Eric Sjödin came free, but Edmílson Britto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mattias Cassel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmílson Britto having to interfere. Bengt-Åke Thidén could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Edmílson Britto made a huge save. With an all-out effort, Linköpings AIK's Edmílson Britto threw himself towards the right post 19 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Eric Sjödin, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 21 minutes into the match, Trindade Atlético Club's goal looked a bit too open when Eric Sjödin came free, but Edmílson Britto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 21 played minutes Trindade Atlético Club got a freekick which was hit by Edu Nóbrega. Edmílson Britto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eric Sjödin in the 22nd minute of the match. Edmílson Britto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Sjödin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cássio Paes hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Bengt-Åke Thidén who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 28thth minute tested the skills of Edmílson Britto when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Emílio da Silva charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emílio da Silva the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Emílio da Silva hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Eric Sjödin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Linköpings AIK's supporters rose to their feet, but Eric Sjödin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edmílson Britto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Linköpings AIK's Jonatan Andersson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Igor Maranhense in the 34th minute of play. After having played for 35 minutes, Bengt-Åke Thidén managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Linköpings AIK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bengt-Åke Thidén was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Trindade Atlético Club's Vânderson Zanette in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eric Sjödin was the one to do the kick off. Jonatan Andersson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vânderson Zanette in the 57th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eric Sjödin in the 69th minute of play forced Trindade Atlético Club's goalkeeper Edmílson Britto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edmílson Britto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bengt-Åke Thidén in the 71st minute of the match. Eric Sjödin struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Edmílson Britto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Linköpings AIK. In the 86th minute, Igor Maranhense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mattias Cassel during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Linköpings AIK getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Mattias Cassel hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute Eric Sjödin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmílson Britto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bengt-Åke Thidén in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edmílson Britto saved Trindade Atlético Club from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eric Sjödin in the 96th minute of play forced Trindade Atlético Club's goalkeeper Edmílson Britto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Trindade Atlético Club players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
