GUAYACO got a corner. Ponte do Carro's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Walme Saucedo ran over to the corner to take the kick. C.A. GUAYACO's Mendoza Joseph was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jorge Valério in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Mendoza Joseph did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Jorge Valério 39 minutes into the match. Arias Burgo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reinaldo Calado, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Ponte do Carro's supporters rose to their feet, but Reinaldo Calado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arias Burgo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arias Burgo made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Reinaldo Calado sent off a good shot on target. When Dionisio Ramos came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Ponte do Carro fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dionisio Ramos couldn't finish the play. In the 75thth minute of the game Luís Ferreira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ponte do Carro's Jorge Valério was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
