Justo Estefan had in the 5thth minute some difficulties stopping Clinton Caballero's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After a rather tough play, Formentera's Joaquin Vela got a free kick in the 9th minute. 10 minutes into the match, Formentera's goalkeeper Justo Estefan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Clinton Caballero. After 11 minutes, Justino Hondo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Formentera and the New England Minas players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Formentera's zone, Clinton Caballero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Justo Estefan came out of the goal and Clinton Caballero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 16th minute of the game. One of Formentera:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of New England Minas:s goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Osvaldo Sugar during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Osvaldo Sugar kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Chris Cabezon's late challenge caught a Formentera's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chris Cabezon helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Formentera booed when New England Minas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris Cabezon didn't get a good kick on the ball. 29 minutes into the game, Greg Ciccaglione was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. New England Minas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Formentera the free kick. Greg Ciccaglione kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Martin Markusson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan-Erik Lönn, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. New England Minas's Martin Markusson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fausto Ronconi in the 35th minute of play. Formentera's Justo Estefan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Formentera from getting a goal against them. Justo Estefan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. In the 82nd match minute, Formentera was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldo Sugar to maneuver through the defense. In the 83rd minute, Mete Ferro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The New England Minas fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. Justo Estefan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chris Cabezon in the 89th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Formentera's Osvaldo Sugar got a free kick in the 91st minute. Formentera made a substitution. Modesto Poncio replaced Jan-Erik Lönn. Justo Estefan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mete Ferro in the 93rd minute of play. Mete Ferro might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Justo Estefan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mete Ferro ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mete Ferro in the 94th minute of play forced Formentera's goalkeeper Justo Estefan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. New England Minas had won after a very even match.
