An unexpectedly hard shot by Tião Neves in the 10th minute of play forced AFC - Curitiba's goalkeeper Celsinho Vander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Nico Torres had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cido da Rocha. Matungo Gaúcho's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nico Torres was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Celsinho Vander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel de Andrade in the 17th minute of play. 18 minutes into the game, Humberto Leão cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Cido da Rocha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Celsinho Vander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel de Andrade in the 23rd minute of the match. A collision led to Matungo Gaúcho getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Toninho Vale hit a great ball. Humberto Leão's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cido da Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Luiz Gustavo Braga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Cido da Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cido da Rocha didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Humberto Leão went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Cido da Rocha was out of position in the 38 minute of play, and Luiz Gustavo Braga capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Luiz Gustavo Braga really showed his touch with that goal: 4-0. After a rather tough play, AFC - Curitiba's Luizão Ferraz got a free kick in the 42nd minute. AFC - Curitiba's Celsinho Vander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guga Souza in the 43rd minute of play. The supporters of AFC - Curitiba booed when Matungo Gaúcho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel de Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 47 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for AFC - Curitiba! Celsinho Vander had in the 50thth minute some difficulties stopping Dário da Cunha's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Dário da Cunha did an outstanding performance 50 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 4-1 to the right of an irritated Celsinho Vander in the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Guga Souza made a kick off. Allan Furlan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cido da Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Luiz Gustavo Braga made a precise shot to the right of Cido da Rocha. Matungo Gaúcho's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-1. After having played for 62 minutes, Guga Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Matungo Gaúcho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guga Souza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Celsinho Vander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guga Souza in the 65th minute of the match. Celsinho Vander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guga Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. A collision led to AFC - Curitiba getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Luiz Gustavo Braga hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dário da Cunha got free with Celsinho Vander in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 87 minutes, Nico Torres mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AFC - Curitiba and the Matungo Gaúcho players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Matungo Gaúcho booed when AFC - Curitiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nico Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cido da Rocha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Humberto Leão in the 95th minute of the match. In the 99th minute, Luiz Gustavo Braga ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cido da Rocha was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-1.
