The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cássio Matos in the 29th minute of play forced Excelência de Luxe's goalkeeper João Paulo Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Catugi FC's Sven-Edvin Skräddare played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Mangueira in the 32nd minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eliseu França to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Eliseu França hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 55th minute, Nando de Alcântara ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João Paulo Zonta was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. In the 57th minute, Claudinei Carioca left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Catugi FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. João Paulo Zonta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudinei Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner ended in Henrique Félix almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Excelência de Luxe's João Paulo Zonta did a great save. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Eliseu França took a quick shot and it went in 6-2 without a chance for Sven-Edvin Skräddare to make any attempt to save it. In the 79th minute Nando de Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Paulo Zonta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Catugi FC getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Leonel Varela hit a great ball. Sven-Edvin Skräddare was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Adelino Damião. João Paulo Zonta didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leonel Varela went, in the 82nd minute, to the upper right corner, 7-2 was the resulting score. Sven-Edvin Skräddare made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Mangueira in the 87th minute of play. 88 minutes into the game, Catugi FC's Nando de Alcântara nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. João Paulo Zonta made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Falcão Paes during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Excelência de Luxe booed when Catugi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Falcão Paes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute of the match Wilson de Godoi shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sven-Edvin Skräddare showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
