The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nae Hodorog scored 1-0 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dirk Jan Snoeks, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. FC Alinborger's Nae Hodorog got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arie van Zeist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 28 minutes into the game, Alin Partenskiy cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Dirk Jan Snoeks was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Nae Hodorog who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 36thth minute tested the skills of Dirk Jan Snoeks when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Pieter-Jan Hulshof fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AVV Zeeburgia's protests and gave Pieter-Jan Hulshof a yellow card for diving instead. 45 minutes into the game, one of AVV Zeeburgia:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nae Hodorog to make the kick off. FC Alinborger's Alin Partenadze proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save FC Alinborger from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arie van Zeist got free with Alin Partenadze in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. AVV Zeeburgia's Dirk Jan Snoeks played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alin Partenskiy in the 55th minute of play. AVV Zeeburgia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Alinborger the free kick. Arie van Zeist kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Dirk Jan Snoeks made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alin Partenskiy in the 90th minute of play. In the 93rd match minute, AVV Zeeburgia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roland Deinse to maneuver through the defense. In the 95thth minute of the game Nae Hodorog who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AVV Zeeburgia's Dirk Jan Snoeks was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Dirk Jan Snoeks showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alin Partenskiy in the 97th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the AVV Zeeburgia players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for FC Alinborger.
