Merceron United's Flavio Corvi quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Martien Crans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberto Giorda having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Carlo Mandelli made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Pannekoeken's goal looked a bit too open when Carlo Mandelli came free, but Harold Breugel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlo Mandelli got free with Harold Breugel in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 85th minute, Dario Gelsomini hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Harold Breugel was a little too slow when Carlo Mandelli got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 91st minute. The score was now 1-2.
