The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Carlos Eduardo Donatello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celedonio Mundo in the 5th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Jarbas Pombal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hernan Eudoxio was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. With a little luck, Reko-Recko 03™'s Carlos Eduardo Donatello got control of the ball when Nicasio Gabirel tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hernan Eudoxio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Augusto Moura in the 10th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nicasio Gabirel got free with Carlos Eduardo Donatello in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 19 minutes into the match, Reko-Recko 03™'s goalkeeper Carlos Eduardo Donatello had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nicasio Gabirel. 20 minutes into the match, Locura Académica's Jonas Argider sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlos Eduardo Donatello narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the Locura Académica defense, Jarbas Pombal kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hernan Eudoxio. The Locura Académica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hernan Eudoxio should have stopped the shot. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Reko-Recko 03™'s goalkeeper Carlos Eduardo Donatello, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hernan Eudoxio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ed Mundo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 34th minute of the match Reko-Recko 03™ got a corner. Locura Académica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Giuseppe de Souza ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Ed Mundo heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After 38 played minutes Locura Académica got a freekick which was hit by Jonas Argider. Hernan Eudoxio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jarbas Pombal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hernan Eudoxio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jarbas Pombal went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Locura Académica's zone, Jarbas Pombal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hernan Eudoxio came out of the goal and Jarbas Pombal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jarbas Pombal was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Locura Académica's goal looked a bit too open when Jarbas Pombal came free, but Hernan Eudoxio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jarbas Pombal in the 56thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Hernan Eudoxio, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Locura Académica's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Angel Firmo in the 62nd minute. Jarbas Pombal's late challenge caught a Locura Académica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jarbas Pombal helped the player get up and apologised. Jarbas Pombal hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Locura Académica defense, Jarbas Pombal kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hernan Eudoxio. The Locura Académica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hernan Eudoxio should have stopped the shot. In the 80th minute, Zé Augusto Moura got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 82 minutes into the match, Reko-Recko 03™'s goal looked a bit too open when Nicasio Gabirel came free, but Carlos Eduardo Donatello reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hernan Eudoxio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jarbas Pombal's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. 85 minutes had been played when some careless play by Locura Académica's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Giuseppe de Souza was slow to take the kick. During this time Reko-Recko 03™'s players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Locura Académica's goalie and right to Ed Mundo. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Locura Académica's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Jarbas Pombal kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Ed Mundo kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Locura Académica's Hernan Eudoxio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jarbas Pombal in the 96th minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Reko-Recko 03™ eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
