Marcelinho Cruz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jacinto Duarte could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Olliver Todman made a huge save. In the 26th minute Sandro da Fonseca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olliver Todman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ben Minton's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcelinho Cruz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Marcelinho Cruz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Larry Baba, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 38th match minute, Australian Youth Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lauder Fitzsimmons to maneuver through the defense. After 39 played minutes, Desportivo Lucca MZ's Hermínio Leite shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Olliver Todman came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Desportivo Lucca MZ reached it. After a defensive mix-up in Desportivo Lucca MZ's zone, Bradley Obree stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelinho Cruz came out of the goal and Bradley Obree tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lauder Fitzsimmons was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 48 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Australian Youth Academy fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 47th minute. Penalty! In the 51st minute there was a penalty for Desportivo Lucca MZ. Rafa Favoretto stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Olliver Todman. 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Australian Youth Academy's Olliver Todman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandro da Fonseca in the 58th minute of play. In the 60th minute Jacinto Duarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olliver Todman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ed Mcwilliam came free with the goalkeeper in the 63rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Marcelinho Cruz could save by the left post. Hermínio Leite charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hermínio Leite the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 69 played minutes Desportivo Lucca MZ got a freekick which was hit by Hermínio Leite. Ben Minton could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Marcelinho Cruz made a huge save. 75 minutes into the game, Desportivo Lucca MZ's Jacinto Duarte nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Olliver Todman made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After 77 minutes, Dé Xavier mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Desportivo Lucca MZ and the Australian Youth Academy players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Desportivo Lucca MZ's Dé Xavier got a free kick in the 78th minute. Marcelinho Cruz came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Australian Youth Academy's Ben Minton. But to his dismay, Ben Minton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. 88 minutes into the match, Ed Mcwilliam had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcelinho Cruz. Desportivo Lucca MZ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ed Mcwilliam was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. 93 minutes into the game, Adalberto Lopez threw the ball into play from the sideline. Australian Youth Academy's Ben Minton quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Australian Youth Academy's Olliver Todman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandro da Fonseca in the 96th minute of play. Australian Youth Academy's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
