Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 150) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Betinho Severo got the match started through his kick off. 4 minutes into the game, Betinho Severo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Percival Tavares. Betinho Severo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The supporters of Inter de São Paulo booed when Portuguesa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betinho Severo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 8th minute Celsinho Bittencourt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovani de Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Júlio Mangueira during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Portuguesa fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 9th minute. Penalty! Giovani de Amaral came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Inter de São Paulo's Celsinho Bittencourt. But to his dismay, Celsinho Bittencourt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Celsinho Bittencourt in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Giovani de Amaral prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Betinho Severo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 18 minutes into the game, Manoel Moura was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portuguesa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Inter de São Paulo the free kick. Percival Tavares made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Pedro Augusto de Barros sent off a good shot on target. Giovani de Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celsinho Bittencourt, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 25th minute Isaltino de Andrade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovani de Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Giovani de Amaral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celsinho Bittencourt in the 26th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celsinho Bittencourt in the 29th minute of play forced Portuguesa's goalkeeper Giovani de Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Giovani de Amaral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Marquez in the 33rd minute of play. With a little luck, Inter de São Paulo's Percival Tavares got control of the ball when Charles Arantes tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 36th minute, Adalberto Macedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot by Charles Arantes from long distance, 37 minutes into the match, got Percival Tavares's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Inter de São Paulo's Percival Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Betinho Severo in the 45th minute of play. Giovani de Amaral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Marquez in the 47th minute of play. Percival Tavares made a fantastic save in the 48th minute, when Betinho Severo sent off a good shot on target. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when Celsinho Bittencourt made the kick off in the second half. Betinho Severo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 56 minutes of play, Portuguesa's Charles Arantes made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Percival Tavares was left in no man's land by his defense there! Percival Tavares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pedro Augusto de Barros went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. 64 minutes into the game, Portuguesa's Pedro Augusto de Barros nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Percival Tavares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. 69 minutes into the match, Inter de São Paulo's goal looked a bit too open when Betinho Severo came free, but Percival Tavares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 70 minutes, Alfredinho Prado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inter de São Paulo and the Portuguesa players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alfredinho Prado hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Pedro Augusto de Barros took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Percival Tavares. Percival Tavares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. Inter de São Paulo's Percival Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raúl Rosado in the 80th minute of play. In the 82nd minute Inter de São Paulo were awarded a corner. Celsinho Bittencourt went to the cornerflag to take it. 88 minutes into the match, Inter de São Paulo's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Augusto de Barros came free, but Percival Tavares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 90 minutes of play, Portuguesa's Pedro Augusto de Barros made it 6-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. In the 93rd match minute, Inter de São Paulo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Marquez to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Pedro Augusto de Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Portuguesa's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro Augusto de Barros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Percival Tavares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Augusto de Barros in the 95th minute of play forced Inter de São Paulo's goalkeeper Percival Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Inter de São Paulo's Percival Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Augusto de Barros in the 97th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Portuguesa players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
