Florida Gulf Coast's Lucio Geofredo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudio Meli in the 21st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Gordon Nazario managed to get in a good position for a shot. Florida Gulf Coast's supporters rose to their feet, but Gordon Nazario was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dejan Cumbo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dejan Cumbo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gordon Nazario, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 26th minute, Enrique Tiadoro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gordon Nazario recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Seraċini Għawdxin's Dejan Cumbo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabio Jerico in the 33rd minute of play. Florida Gulf Coast's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fidel Maureo in the 34th minute. The audience was convinced that Robert Seychell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lucio Geofredo was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. In the 38th minute, Paul Montebello left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Seraċini Għawdxin fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Lucio Geofredo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Seychell in the 42nd minute of play. Robert Seychell received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Lucio Geofredo came out and tried to block the shot, but Robert Seychell slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 42nd minute. Paul Montebello could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Lucio Geofredo made a huge save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Gordon Nazario made the kick off in the second half. Lucio Geofredo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudio Meli in the 51st minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Robert Seychell in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lucio Geofredo saved Florida Gulf Coast from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Seychell in the 61st minute of play forced Florida Gulf Coast's goalkeeper Lucio Geofredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Robert Seychell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Seraċini Għawdxin made a substitution.
