Kaplan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Islas FC the free kick. In the 5th match minute, Kaplan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angel Calisto to maneuver through the defense. Islas FC's Oscar Confesor got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Israel Goyo came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Islas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Israel Goyo couldn't finish the play. René Higuita stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Oscar Confesor's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. René Higuita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Israel Goyo in the 16th minute of the match. Kaplan's defense didn't have a chance, in the 17th minute, when Aristides Ubendu scored to the left of an out of position René Higuita, making the score, 1-0. René Higuita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oscar Confesor, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute, Aristides Ubendu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 28 minutes into the match, Kaplan's goal looked a bit too open when Oscar Confesor came free, but René Higuita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wincent Knopek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serafin Froylan in the 34th minute of the match. The referee ignored Kaplan's protests and gave Agustin Quinito a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Kaplan's Agustin Quinito got a free kick in the 44th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Confesor in the 45th minute of play forced Kaplan's goalkeeper René Higuita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
