The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Noah Amadeo Rahel during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 11 played minutes ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ got a freekick which was hit by Noah Amadeo Rahel. The crowd rose to their feet as ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ's Ernst Cakir slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Przemyslaw Taffarel. That made the score 1-0 after 18 minutes of play. With an all-out effort, ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ's Przemyslaw Taffarel threw himself towards the right post 24 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ernst Cakir, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 25 played minutes ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ got a freekick which was hit by Eddy Moser. An unexpectedly hard shot by Przemyslaw Trezeguet in the 29th minute of play forced ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ's goalkeeper Herbert Good to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Przemyslaw Trezeguet hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Zacisze Częstochowa's Przemyslaw Taffarel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Zacisze Częstochowa from getting a goal against them. After 34 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Zacisze Częstochowa! Przemyslaw Taffarel had in the 35thth minute some difficulties stopping Noah Amadeo Rahel's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his right side, but he still managed to hold the ball Herbert Good made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wieslaw Imbor in the 40th minute of play. In the 43rd minute Wieslaw Imbor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herbert Good saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Herbert Good didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wieslaw Imbor went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ernst Cakir made a kick off. Ernst Cakir scored 2-1 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Przemyslaw Taffarel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ's Herbert Good got control of the ball when Wieslaw Imbor tried to sneak it across the goal line. Zbigniew Penkalski kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. In the 63rd minute, Przemyslaw Zidane ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Herbert Good was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Eddy Moser received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Przemyslaw Taffarel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78thth minute of the game Ernst Cakir who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Zacisze Częstochowa's Przemyslaw Taffarel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Karl Hilti kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. When Przemyslaw Zidane came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Zacisze Częstochowa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Przemyslaw Zidane couldn't finish the play. Przemyslaw Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ernst Cakir in the 86th minute of play. After having played for 89 minutes, Eddy Moser managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eddy Moser was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Przemyslaw Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernst Cakir, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 93 minutes into the match, Bernd Heid had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Przemyslaw Taffarel. Zacisze Częstochowa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bernd Heid was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Zacisze Częstochowa's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
