Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dušan Vlahović in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Herbert Good prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ fans' excitement grew in the 42nd match minute when ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ's Ernst Cakir looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 45th match minute, ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eddy Moser to maneuver through the defense. Dušan Vlahović might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Herbert Good. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dušan Vlahović ran back to his position shaking his head. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dušan Vlahović was the one to do the kick off. KaoS Futbol Club's Eduardo Diegotxe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julien Marxer in the 53rd minute of play. After some careless play in the ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ defense, Miguel Merentiel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Herbert Good. The ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Herbert Good should have stopped the shot. Eduardo Diegotxe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roland Hilbe in the 61st minute of play. Herbert Good showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dušan Vlahović, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. 67 minutes into the match, KaoS Futbol Club's goal looked a bit too open when Bernd Heid came free, but Eduardo Diegotxe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Agustín Preciado ran back to his position shaking his head. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
