The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lirarnas Lag's Christer Wästerberg got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 16 minutes into the game, Absoliut's Valdas Ivanauskas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alf Enström made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Valdas Ivanauskas scored 0-2 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alf Enström, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Tauras Dovydėnas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alf Enström was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. 32 minutes into the match, Lirarnas Lag's goal looked a bit too open when Arūnas Murza came free, but Alf Enström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Vaclovas Jurkus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christer Wästerberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Christer Wästerberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lirarnas Lag's Alf Enström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Lirarnas Lag from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tauras Dovydėnas in the 58th minute of play forced Lirarnas Lag's goalkeeper Alf Enström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 60 minutes into the game, Jean-Pascal Bellefeuille was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lirarnas Lag's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Absoliut the free kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Absoliut's Arūnas Murza slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alf Enström. That made the score 0-4 after 67 minutes of play. In the 76th minute, Tauras Dovydėnas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alf Enström was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Lirarnas Lag's Christer Wästerberg got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Lirarnas Lag's Alf Enström got control of the ball when Albinas Vaitiekus tried to sneak it across the goal line.
