The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Wit Kasperowicz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dietrich Bucheli in the 3rd minute of the match. Gerhard Vejs hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Garnier Nüesch during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 6 played minutes FC Lugano got a freekick which was hit by Garnier Nüesch. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul got free with Wit Kasperowicz in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Godo Gøl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wieslaw Maziarski in the 11th minute of play. FC Lugano's Qiao Jian got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wieslaw Maziarski's late challenge caught a FC Lugano's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wieslaw Maziarski helped the player get up and apologised. After 19 played minutes KS LEW Chorzów got a freekick which was hit by Wieslaw Maziarski. Godo Gøl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mikolaj Budzynski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Favian Muff blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wit Kasperowicz having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul got free with Wit Kasperowicz in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Godo Gøl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mikolaj Budzynski in the 33rd minute of play. Wit Kasperowicz made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 35 minutes, Wieslaw Maziarski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. KS LEW Chorzów's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wieslaw Maziarski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mikolaj Budzynski stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52ndth minute of the game Mikolaj Budzynski who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Lugano's Godo Gøl was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 53rd minute Mikolaj Budzynski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godo Gøl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wit Kasperowicz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Qiao Jian, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Jerome Achen lost his temper 70 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. A collision led to FC Lugano getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Jerome Achen hit a great ball. FC Lugano made a substitution. Teddy Racine replaced Garnier Nüesch. Godo Gøl made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wieslaw Maziarski in the 76th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Qiao Jian in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wit Kasperowicz saved KS LEW Chorzów from getting behind. In the 90th match minute, KS LEW Chorzów was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerhard Vejs to maneuver through the defense.
