The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sergio Goycochea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victoriano Eztebe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 6 minutes, Aquilino Guerrero mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cable a Tierra and the FC Hackspett U21 players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 6 played minutes Cable a Tierra got a freekick which was hit by Aquilino Guerrero. FC Hackspett U21's Sergio Goycochea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victoriano Eztebe in the 11th minute of play. Ivar Brask who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 13thth minute tested the skills of Edelmiro Eriz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Edelmiro Eriz came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Hackspett U21's Palle Paalgard. But to his dismay, Palle Paalgard quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusebio Gorosti in the 21st minute of play forced FC Hackspett U21's goalkeeper Sergio Goycochea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes into the game, Baltasar Gaitan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Sergio Goycochea was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Edelmiro Eriz made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Palle Paalgard sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baltasar Gaitan in the 30th minute of play forced FC Hackspett U21's goalkeeper Sergio Goycochea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute Palle Paalgard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edelmiro Eriz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victoriano Eztebe in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sergio Goycochea saved FC Hackspett U21 from getting behind. A collision led to FC Hackspett U21 getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Kálmán Mihály hit a great ball. Sergio Goycochea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eusebio Gorosti, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. In the 42nd minute, Ivar Brask left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Hackspett U21 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Baltasar Gaitan to make the kick off. Cable a Tierra's Edelmiro Eriz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Palle Paalgard in the 51st minute of play. In the 56th minute Ivar Brask shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edelmiro Eriz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee showed Palle Paalgard the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Cable a Tierra booed when FC Hackspett U21 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Palle Paalgard didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Baltasar Gaitan got free with Sergio Goycochea in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. FC Hackspett U21's Sergio Goycochea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save FC Hackspett U21 from getting a goal against them. Lars-Erik Klemensson hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. With a little luck, FC Hackspett U21's Sergio Goycochea got control of the ball when Baltasar Gaitan tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Emanuel Uter came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the FC Hackspett U21 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emanuel Uter couldn't finish the play. Edelmiro Eriz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivar Brask, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Baltasar Gaitan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Sergio Goycochea made a huge save. FC Hackspett U21's Sergio Goycochea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save FC Hackspett U21 from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Baltasar Gaitan got free with Sergio Goycochea in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. FC Hackspett U21 were victorious despite being under pressure from Cable a Tierra for much of the match.
