On his own Wawrzyniec Cipinski managed to get through Tabossi's defense and was going for a shot in the net, but Nery Pumpido lunged to the right and managed in the last second get hold of the ball before it was to late. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Teobald Mondrowski in the 52nd minute of play forced Tabossi's goalkeeper Nery Pumpido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
