Spectators: 7488 (Terracing: 5617, Seating: 1722, VIP seats: 149) The audience thought a goal was coming when Sigi Tegtmeyer got free with Haarald Nemvalts in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 7th minute, Urmet Vainsalu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Johann Scheuerer was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Haarald Nemvalts was out of position in the 12 minute of play, and Sigi Tegtmeyer capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Sigi Tegtmeyer really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Johann Scheuerer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Urmet Vainsalu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Urmet Vainsalu in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Johann Scheuerer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ahti Laadi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Urmet Vainsalu in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Johann Scheuerer saved Rot-Weiss-Essen from getting behind. In the 29th minute, Urmet Vainsalu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Johann Scheuerer was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Urmet Vainsalu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Johann Scheuerer having to make a save. Johann Scheuerer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Urmet Vainsalu in the 34th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Sven Börger got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 46th minute Urmet Vainsalu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johann Scheuerer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Angelo Wesseling got a free kick in the 58th minute. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Sigi Tegtmeyer hit a great ball. Urmet Vainsalu in the 69thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Johann Scheuerer, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. With 75 minutes on the clock, Ephraim Wichern commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Rot-Weiss-Essen fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 74th minute. Penalty! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Urmet Vainsalu in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Johann Scheuerer saved Rot-Weiss-Essen from getting behind. In the 88th minute Urmet Vainsalu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johann Scheuerer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elar Arumäe's late challenge caught a Rot-Weiss-Essen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elar Arumäe helped the player get up and apologised. Johann Scheuerer made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Urmet Vainsalu sent off a good shot on target.
