Ludomil Hendzel's late challenge caught a Oldham Athletic's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ludomil Hendzel helped the player get up and apologised. In the 6th minute, one of GKS 1977 BEŁCHATÓW:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for GKS 1977 BEŁCHATÓW. The referee gave Oldham Athletic a penalty, 8 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jimmy Linquist, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of GKS 1977 BEŁCHATÓW's Witomir Tyskie. 0-1. Witomir Tyskie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl-Erik Fransson in the 11th minute of the match. In the 14th minute, Oscar Bäcklin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Witomir Tyskie was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. 21 minutes into the game, Marian Golec lined in a short shot 1-2 behind a frustrated Folke Smed. GKS 1977 BEŁCHATÓW's Witomir Tyskie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oscar Bäcklin in the 24th minute of play. Karl-Erik Fransson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Karl-Erik Fransson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Witomir Tyskie having to interfere. Henrik Söderberg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Witomir Tyskie having to make a save. GKS 1977 BEŁCHATÓW's Witomir Tyskie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl-Erik Fransson in the 37th minute of play. The supporters of Oldham Athletic booed when GKS 1977 BEŁCHATÓW was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marian Golec didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute, Karl-Erik Fransson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Witomir Tyskie was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marian Golec was the one to do the kick off. Henrik Söderberg charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Henrik Söderberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Oldham Athletic's Henrik Söderberg got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Folke Smed didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marian Golec went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. Folke Smed came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by GKS 1977 BEŁCHATÓW's Marian Golec. But to his dismay, Marian Golec quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-3. Oscar Bäcklin's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Witomir Tyskie firmly grabbed it by the left post. After a rather tough play, GKS 1977 BEŁCHATÓW's Zbigniew Kolba got a free kick in the 64th minute. After 67 played minutes GKS 1977 BEŁCHATÓW got a freekick which was hit by Czeslaw Wincek. Oldham Athletic's Karl-Axel Bure was substituted for Karl-Erik Fransson. Through an outstanding action, after 72 minutes, Witomir Tyskie successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Oscar Bäcklin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Witomir Tyskie having to interfere. Emanuel Hökkvist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 87th minute, Emanuel Hökkvist got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 94 minutes into the match, Marian Golec had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Folke Smed. Oldham Athletic's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marian Golec was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-4. Oldham Athletic were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing GKS 1977 BEŁCHATÓW to leave the ground with a draw.
