But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kléberson de Moraes couldn't finish the play. Tostão de Amaral kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. SANTOS F.C's Wilson Travassos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl-Erik Fransson in the 20th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Benjamin Quirino managed to get in a good position for a shot. SANTOS F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Benjamin Quirino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Folke Smed breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 31 minutes into the match, Oscar Bäcklin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wilson Travassos. SANTOS F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oscar Bäcklin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Karl-Erik Fransson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Karl-Erik Fransson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Wilson Travassos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wilson Travassos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl-Erik Fransson, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Bäcklin in the 47th minute of play forced SANTOS F.C's goalkeeper Wilson Travassos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kléberson de Moraes to strike the kick off in the second half. Karl-Erik Fransson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Breno Nóbrega struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Folke Smed didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SANTOS F.C. 64 minutes into the match, Kléberson de Moraes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Folke Smed. In the 87th minute, Tostão de Amaral made a precise shot to the right of Folke Smed. Oldham Athletic's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Wilson Travassos was a little too slow when Oscar Bäcklin got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 90th minute. The score was now 2-3.
