The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some careless play in the Catugi FC defense, Bola Forte kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luizão Braga. The Catugi FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luizão Braga should have stopped the shot. In the 6th minute Edvaldo Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizão Braga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dida Batista hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Cido Cosme might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luizão Braga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cido Cosme ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Mamutes EC booed when Catugi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Davi Proença didn't get a good kick on the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Bola Forte had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luizão Braga. Catugi FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bola Forte was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Luizão Braga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simão de Lara, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. In the 17th minute Eugênio Domingues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizão Braga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luizão Braga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edvaldo Soares in the 20th minute of the match. In the 21st match minute, Catugi FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Glauco de Amorim to maneuver through the defense. Nilson Paranaense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Glauco de Amorim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 29 minutes of play, Mamutes EC's Bola Forte made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luizão Braga was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luizão Braga didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bola Forte went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. Luizão Braga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bola Forte in the 35th minute of play. Silas Barbosa kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. 43 minutes into the match, Catugi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Simão de Lara came free, but Luizão Braga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luizão Braga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simão de Lara in the 47th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
