After 9 played minutes, MIT's Petre Prislop shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Baiardo Combarros came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in MIT reached it. A hard shot by Nicolae Encuțu from long distance, 13 minutes into the match, got Baiardo Combarros's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Caaguazu's defense didn't have a chance, in the 15th minute, when Costel Cezariu scored to the left of an out of position Baiardo Combarros, making the score, 1-0. 20 minutes into the match, Caaguazu's goalkeeper Baiardo Combarros had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gelu Petrică. In the 29th minute there was a penalty for Caaguazu. Valente Nieva stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Iulian Burtea. 2-1. Tajo Barquerin's late challenge caught a MIT's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Caaguazu's Dagoberto Alcalde was substituted for Gomesano Cantillo. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Iulian Burtea made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. After a rather tough play, MIT's Gelu Petrică got a free kick in the 93rd minute. The MIT support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
