Serafim Peres was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Domingos Laurgain. The supporters of Noroeste Paulista booed when Club de la Serpiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilio Leheren didn't get a good kick on the ball. Severino Di Giovanni took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Serafim Peres. Serafim Peres dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Noroeste Paulista's Serafim Peres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristo Cordeal in the 20th minute of play. With his leg Serafim Peres managed to avoid a goal in the 21stth minute, when Club de la Serpiente's Severino Di Giovanni fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 32nd minute, Gláuber Veloso made a precise shot to the right of Santo Cayo. Club de la Serpiente's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Severino Di Giovanni kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Serafim Peres. That made the score 2-1 in the 36 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Noroeste Paulista's zone, Emilio Leheren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Serafim Peres came out of the goal and Emilio Leheren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Severino Di Giovanni got free with Serafim Peres in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

53 minutes into the match, Noroeste Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Ruperto Madaleno came free, but Serafim Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Freddy Franco fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club de la Serpiente's protests and gave Freddy Franco a yellow card for diving instead. Freddy Franco hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. After 57 minutes, Maurício da Mata mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Noroeste Paulista and the Club de la Serpiente players grew even worse after the yellow card. Serafim Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maurício da Mata kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. In the 67th minute, Domingos Laurgain sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Noroeste Paulista's Serafim Peres didn't even have to move. 68 minutes into the match, Noroeste Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Severino Di Giovanni came free, but Serafim Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Severino Di Giovanni in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Serafim Peres prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Noroeste Paulista's Serafim Peres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Severino Di Giovanni in the 76th minute of play. Noroeste Paulista made a substitution. André Vidal replaced Rômulo Nunes. Frédson Moura hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Santo Cayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Godoi in the 92nd minute of play. After having played for 95 minutes, Emilio Leheren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club de la Serpiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emilio Leheren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Frédson Moura during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
