The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Arnulfo Panpili took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Petrică Vorniceanu to make any attempt to save it. Petrică Vorniceanu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Delmiro Castel in the 46th minute. 47 minutes into the game, Delmiro Castel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Petrică Vorniceanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arnulfo Panpili to make the kick off. If Delmiro Castel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angelo Bartolome came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Gyepüpataka's Edgar Jupân. But to his dismay, Edgar Jupân quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Gyepüpataka's Petrică Vorniceanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnulfo Panpili in the 76th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Gyepüpataka's zone, Delmiro Castel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petrică Vorniceanu came out of the goal and Delmiro Castel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
