Ramiro Leme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilberto Guadamuz in the 5th minute of the match. Efrain Arnaez made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Germano Carmona sent off a good shot on target. In the 11th match minute, Stars Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Américo Albuquerque to maneuver through the defense. When Stars Academy, in the 12th minute, was rewarded a free kick, Américo Albuquerque went for the shot and managed to fire it away just outside the right post. An excellent chance for a goal! In the 13th minute, Américo Albuquerque made a precise shot to the right of Efrain Arnaez. PUNTARENAS F.C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Stars Academy's Ramiro Leme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilberto Guadamuz in the 18th minute of play. Ramiro Leme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilberto Guadamuz, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Gilberto Guadamuz managed to get in a good position for a shot. PUNTARENAS F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilberto Guadamuz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ramiro Leme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 25th minute, one of Stars Academy:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Stars Academy. Jairo Carrasqueira charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jairo Carrasqueira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Stars Academy fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 29th minute. Penalty! In the 32nd minute there was a penalty for PUNTARENAS F.C. David Carazo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ramiro Leme. 1-1. Efrain Arnaez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Américo Albuquerque, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 37th minute, Salvador Sobral ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Efrain Arnaez was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Américo Albuquerque during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Américo Albuquerque hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
PUNTARENAS F.C's Daniel Cartin was substituted for David Carazo. PUNTARENAS F.C's Bryan Garita was substituted for Wilmer Villareal. A collision led to PUNTARENAS F.C getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Gilberto Guadamuz hit a great ball. Germano Carmona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Efrain Arnaez having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, PUNTARENAS F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Américo Albuquerque came free, but Efrain Arnaez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Efrain Arnaez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Germano Carmona in the 59th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Olger Porras in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ramiro Leme prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Stars Academy's Jairo Carrasqueira got his second yellow card of the match in the 62nd minute. The referee ordered Jairo Carrasqueira off the ground. In a very dangerous position, a player in Stars Academy fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 62nd minute. Penalty! The referee gave PUNTARENAS F.C a penalty, 65 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gilberto Guadamuz, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Stars Academy's Ramiro Leme. 2-2. In the 69th minute, Américo Albuquerque left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Stars Academy fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. 73 minutes into the match, Stars Academy's goalkeeper Ramiro Leme had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Olger Porras. After a defensive mix-up in PUNTARENAS F.C's zone, Américo Albuquerque stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Efrain Arnaez came out of the goal and Américo Albuquerque tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gilberto Guadamuz succeeded in the game's 83rd minute to get real power on a long shot . Stars Academy's Ramiro Leme hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 4-3! In the 90th minute Salvador Sobral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Efrain Arnaez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stars Academy's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by António Cortez in the 92nd minute. After taking down the ball on Stars Academy's corner António Cortez fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Efrain Arnaez quite easily take care of the ball. After some careless play in the Stars Academy defense, Gilberto Guadamuz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ramiro Leme. The Stars Academy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ramiro Leme should have stopped the shot. In the 98th minute, António Cortez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
