When the match clock showed 16 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Fernando Waterreus sped through Bandung Tigers's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Herman Winar. In the 19th match minute, S.C. Potentia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronny Roewen to maneuver through the defense. Toni Saroge sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 29th match minute, S.C. Potentia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bart Fikkers to maneuver through the defense. With an all-out effort, Bandung Tigers's Naci Ünüvar threw himself towards the right post 43 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from M. Ikhsan Situmorang, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After the first half S.C. Potentia were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After having played for 58 minutes, Kabul Muttaqien managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bandung Tigers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kabul Muttaqien was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Herman Winar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Waterreus in the 70th minute of the match. After 71 played minutes S.C. Potentia got a freekick which was hit by Ruud Schokkenbroek. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind S.C. Potentia's goalkeeper Naci Ünüvar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 77th match minute, S.C. Potentia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Berend Schalken to maneuver through the defense. Legimin Murtopo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Naci Ünüvar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Bandung Tigers booed when S.C. Potentia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harry Tamminga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Naci Ünüvar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from M. Ikhsan Situmorang in the 84th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Bandung Tigers's zone, Bart Fikkers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Herman Winar came out of the goal and Bart Fikkers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 93rd minute, Bart Fikkers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Naci Ünüvar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from M. Ikhsan Situmorang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched S.C. Potentia eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
