Michael Hydén showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandru Maia, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. When Aristide Ispirescu came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Club Atlético Timișoara fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aristide Ispirescu couldn't finish the play. Michael Hydén showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandru Maia in the 31st minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Johan Arvidsson during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 32nd minute of the match Gheorghe Augustin shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Michael Hydén showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 49th minute, Alexandru Maia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético Timișoara's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexandru Maia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Michael Hydén breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

62 minutes into the match, IFK Tallkotte's goalkeeper Michael Hydén had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aristide Ispirescu. The supporters of IFK Tallkotte booed when Club Atlético Timișoara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dinu Corlățean didn't get a good kick on the ball. Albert Bratiloveanu came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by IFK Tallkotte's Alvar Forsberg. Alexandru Maias short, quick shot in the 78thth minute got Michael Hydén to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Club Atlético Timișoara's Albert Bratiloveanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joseph Lind in the 80th minute of play. Manuel Vulpescu's late challenge caught a IFK Tallkotte's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manuel Vulpescu helped the player get up and apologised. After 81 played minutes Club Atlético Timișoara got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Vulpescu. 82 minutes into the match, IFK Tallkotte's Christer Glanselius broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 86th match minute, Club Atlético Timișoara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dinu Corlățean to maneuver through the defense. Tor Myr took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Albert Bratiloveanu. Club Atlético Timișoara's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Alexandru Maia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Michael Hydén tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to IFK Tallkotte getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Christer Glanselius hit a great ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The IFK Tallkotte fans cheered their team off the field, for while Club Atlético Timișoara had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
