Spectators: 7540 (Terracing: 5656, Seating: 1734, VIP seats: 150) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Christian Meys made the kick off which started today's match. After 3 minutes of play, Brugge United's Christian Meys made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Flavio Madaleno was left in no man's land by his defense there! Rudy Panhuijsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Lamberto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 8th minute, Brugge United's Tjorven Jaddon seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Tjorven Jaddon the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Brugge United protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Tjorven Jaddon had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 7 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Brugge United! Rudy Panhuijsen had in the 9thth minute some difficulties stopping Aristides Jorrin's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The supporters of Newton FC booed when Brugge United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evert-Jan Jaddon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Flavio Madaleno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jochen Diericx in the 18th minute of the match. Arnold Wyns sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Samuel Vervoort recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rudy Panhuijsen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Lamberto, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Astor Frichoso kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. In the 34th minute David Lamberto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rudy Panhuijsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th minute, Dries Dirckx hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 37 played minutes Brugge United got a freekick which was hit by Christian Meys. With a little luck, Brugge United's Rudy Panhuijsen got control of the ball when Aristides Jorrin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Samuel Vervoort's late challenge caught a Newton FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Samuel Vervoort helped the player get up and apologised. After 39 played minutes Brugge United got a freekick which was hit by Samuel Vervoort. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Newton FC's goalkeeper Flavio Madaleno, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 42 minutes into the match, Newton FC's goal looked a bit too open when Samuel Vervoort came free, but Flavio Madaleno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnold Wyns fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Madaleno having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Samuel Vervoort in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Flavio Madaleno saved Newton FC from getting behind.

A collision led to Newton FC getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. David Lamberto hit a great ball. After 52 played minutes Brugge United got a freekick which was hit by Jochen Diericx. The crowd rose to their feet as Brugge United's Jochen Diericx slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Flavio Madaleno. That made the score 0-2 after 55 minutes of play. 63 minutes into the match, Brugge United's Jochen Diericx sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flavio Madaleno narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 64 minutes, Arnold Wyns managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brugge United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnold Wyns was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Santiago Hodei hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jochen Diericx in the 70th minute of play forced Newton FC's goalkeeper Flavio Madaleno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Samuel Vervoort had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Flavio Madaleno was a little too slow when Jochen Diericx got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 80th minute. The score was now 0-3. In the 84th minute, Samuel Vervoort got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Samuel Vervoort had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jochen Diericx received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Flavio Madaleno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 96th minute Samuel Vervoort shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Madaleno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Brugge United players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
