In the 5th minute Recep Talha Ilgın shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Şerafettin Demirtekin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 22 played minutes, Gençlerbirliği's Şenol Saatçioğlu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Şerafettin Demirtekin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gençlerbirliği reached it. The crowd rose to their feet as KARTALSPOR KULÜBÜ's Baha Çiltay slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ali Reşit. That made the score 1-0 after 24 minutes of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hasan Ali Öksak got free with Ali Reşit in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 31st minute, KARTALSPOR KULÜBÜ's Baha Çiltay dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Baha Çiltay made in the 61st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Sufi Kadem immediately put the ball in play. Ali Reşit didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hasan Ali Öksak went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. In the 70th minute, Osman Onay ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ali Reşit was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. After some careless play in the Gençlerbirliği defense, Hasan Ali Öksak kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ali Reşit. The Gençlerbirliği fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ali Reşit should have stopped the shot. Ali Reşit came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by KARTALSPOR KULÜBÜ's Hasan Ali Öksak. But to his dismay, Hasan Ali Öksak quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. KARTALSPOR KULÜBÜ's Osman Onay suffered a concussion after 89 minutes and had to leave the field. When Ahmet Hayri Eryilmaz fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gençlerbirliği's protests and gave Ahmet Hayri Eryilmaz a yellow card for diving instead. Ahmet Hayri Eryilmaz hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. When Selami Ülküm fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored KARTALSPOR KULÜBÜ's protests and gave Selami Ülküm a yellow card for diving instead. Baha Çiltay sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Gençlerbirliği players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for KARTALSPOR KULÜBÜ.
