After having played for 17 minutes, Rogelio Madeo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vélez Juniors's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rogelio Madeo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Enrique Urtsin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Haroldo Domingues in the 26th minute. Fidel Pietro took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zé Domingues. Zé Domingues dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Ulises Cristofol made in the 34th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by LUIZ PANATO's Ronaldo Nóbrega. The audience was convinced that Rogelio Madeo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zé Domingues was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. After the first half Vélez Juniors were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With a little luck, LUIZ PANATO's Zé Domingues got control of the ball when Fidel Pietro tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 57 played minutes LUIZ PANATO got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Maranhense. When LUIZ PANATO's Haroldo Domingues in the 64th minute got a chance for a shot 64th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. When the final whistle sounded Vélez Juniors left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than LUIZ PANATO.
