Silvinho Novaes came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Desportiva Paulo Afonso's Francisco Garcia. But to his dismay, Francisco Garcia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Thanks to some nice moves Patrick Passos could shoot a difficult shot in the 11th minute, which Olavo Vasconcelos however easily saved by the left post. 17 minutes into the game, Desportiva Paulo Afonso's Francisco Garcia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Silvinho Novaes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. A collision led to Desportiva Paulo Afonso getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Sidney Campidelis hit a great ball. Carlinhos Faria kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. In the 29th minute of the match Artur Rezende sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Silvinho Novaes skillfully saved the ball. In the 32nd minute, Anísio Netto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 33rd minute of the match Fernandinho Paes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Silvinho Novaes skillfully saved the ball. Desportiva Paulo Afonso's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fernandinho Paes in the 34th minute. Artur Rezende made a great header on Desportiva Paulo Afonso's corner, it was just that Classe A Futebol Clube's Silvinho Novaes managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 35th minute, Anderson Tavares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Ramiro Duarte took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Olavo Vasconcelos to make any attempt to save it. In the 39th match minute, Desportiva Paulo Afonso was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidney Campidelis to maneuver through the defense. Patrick Passos took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olavo Vasconcelos. Olavo Vasconcelos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Francisco Garcia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Desportiva Paulo Afonso booed when Classe A Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Davi Pena didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 52nd minute of the match Fernandinho Paes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Silvinho Novaes skillfully saved the ball. Davi Pena charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Davi Pena the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Davi Pena kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Leandro Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. The Desportiva Paulo Afonso fans' excitement grew in the 58th match minute when Desportiva Paulo Afonso's Francisco Garcia looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Olavo Vasconcelos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ramiro Duarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 66th minute, Renatinho Braga ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Silvinho Novaes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. After 69 played minutes Desportiva Paulo Afonso got a freekick which was hit by Dinei Moraes. Desportiva Paulo Afonso's Olavo Vasconcelos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ramiro Duarte in the 71st minute of play. Olavo Vasconcelos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leandro Barros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 78 played minutes Desportiva Paulo Afonso got a freekick which was hit by Sidney Campidelis. Leandro Barros took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olavo Vasconcelos. Olavo Vasconcelos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-4. Olavo Vasconcelos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramiro Duarte in the 93rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patrick Passos in the 94th minute of play forced Desportiva Paulo Afonso's goalkeeper Olavo Vasconcelos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute Francisco Garcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvinho Novaes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Desportiva Paulo Afonso walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
