After 12 played minutes Independente FC got a freekick which was hit by Inácio Pinheiro. 14 minutes into the game, Teodor Jilăveanu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nestor Quintal. Teodor Jilăveanu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After having played for 21 minutes, Inácio Pinheiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independente FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Inácio Pinheiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of ASF BAIA MARE -MM- booed when Independente FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Inácio Pinheiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th minute of the match Ştefan Florescu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nestor Quintal skillfully saved the ball. If Zé Carlos de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31stth minute of the game Zé Carlos de Azevedo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ASF BAIA MARE -MM-'s Nae Morar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nae Morar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilberto Gonçalves in the 36th minute of play. In the 39th minute, Zé Carlos de Azevedo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nae Morar was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Nae Morar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Carlos de Azevedo in the 45th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Octav Glăvan was the one to do the kick off. In the 60th minute, Radu Moldovan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Independente FC's Inácio Pinheiro got a free kick in the 65th minute. In the 71st minute, Independente FC's Zé Carlos de Azevedo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nae Morar. Nae Morar yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. Zé Carlos de Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nae Morar having to interfere. After some careless play in the Independente FC defense, Radu Moldovan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nestor Quintal. The Independente FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nestor Quintal should have stopped the shot. When Diego Martins fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Independente FC's protests and gave Diego Martins a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th match minute, Independente FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diego Martins to maneuver through the defense. Teodor Jilăveanu struck a weak shot in the 86th minute.
