Flávio Batista was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 42 minutes of play, Itajaí Football Club's Benê Lima made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nilson Dracena was left in no man's land by his defense there! SE Palmeiras's Nilson Dracena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by William Arósio in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Basílio do Valle to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, João Vítor de Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 56th minute of the match, Benê Lima got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nilson Dracena was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Perivaldo Salles during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to SE Palmeiras getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Perivaldo Salles hit a great ball. Nilson Dracena made an important save on a dangerous shot by William Arósio in the 60th minute. Flávio Batista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basílio do Valle in the 62nd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos Fernando Aparecido during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 83rd match minute, SE Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Fernando Aparecido to maneuver through the defense. Nilson Dracena was out of position in the 96 minute of play, and William Arósio capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. William Arósio really showed his touch with that goal: 3-4.
