The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Valencia C.F.. 21 minutes into the game, Zackary Jenkins was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Valencia C.F.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itajaí Football Club the free kick. After 21 played minutes Valencia C.F. got a freekick which was hit by Zackary Jenkins. In the 23rd minute, Martyn Markham hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. But to his dismay, Ronaldinho Secco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 39 minutes into the game, Benê Lima was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itajaí Football Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Valencia C.F. the free kick. After 39 played minutes Itajaí Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Benê Lima. Norberto Abreu was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 44 minutes into the match. After 44 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Itajaí Football Club! When the match had been going on for 46 minutes, Valencia C.F.'s Donald Marshall got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Flávio Batista. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

A collision led to Itajaí Football Club getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Sílvio Luís do Nascimento hit a great ball. 58 minutes into the game, Brandon Armstrong cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Flávio Batista was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 62nd minute Ronaldinho Secco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wesley Kerr saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 64 minutes into the match, Itajaí Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Brandon Armstrong came free, but Flávio Batista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 66 minutes, Sílvio Luís do Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itajaí Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sílvio Luís do Nascimento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leon Ricketts's late challenge caught a Itajaí Football Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leon Ricketts helped the player get up and apologised. In the 69th match minute, Valencia C.F. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leon Ricketts to maneuver through the defense. When Ronaldinho Secco came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Itajaí Football Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldinho Secco couldn't finish the play. Sílvio Luís do Nascimento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Valencia C.F.'s Zackary Jenkins got a free kick in the 87th minute. Marco Bezerra hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Miles Lancaster's late challenge caught a Itajaí Football Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Miles Lancaster helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Valencia C.F. getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Miles Lancaster hit a great ball. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
