After 13 minutes, Adan Peli mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hermosillo FC and the Santos FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 13th match minute, Hermosillo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adan Peli to maneuver through the defense. Hermosillo FC's Silvano Benat proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Hermosillo FC from getting a goal against them. Rusty Little showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cecilio Afonso, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. In the 35th minute of the match Saturnino Endura sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rusty Little skillfully saved the ball. Cecilio Afonso had several of the Santos FC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 67 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-3 score and a disappointed Rusty Little as he didn't even see the shot coming. Rusty Little took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cecilio Afonso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rusty Little made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cecilio Afonso in the 75th minute. Gustavo Lizar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rusty Little having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Cecilio Afonso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rusty Little was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game.
