The C Ａ R D I N Ａ L fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pompiliu Vizitiu should have stopped the shot. Tiaguinho Hermes charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tiaguinho Hermes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ulysses Peixoto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurențiu Plăcintă, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Horaţiu Aurelianu fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's protests and gave Horaţiu Aurelianu a yellow card for diving instead. 39 minutes into the game, Emerson Motta cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Pompiliu Vizitiu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Horaţiu Aurelianu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Nando de Queiroz made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's Laurențiu Plăcintă got a free kick in the 53rd minute. In the 55th minute Laurențiu Plăcintă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulysses Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pompiliu Vizitiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evaristo Mello, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's Pompiliu Vizitiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evaristo Mello in the 62nd minute of play.
