The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Zé Pedro de Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anton Aicher in the 2nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, America Futebol Clube SP's Nilton Sanches got a free kick in the 3rd minute. 5 minutes into the game, Harry Rupp was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hertha 1969's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave America Futebol Clube SP the free kick. In the 5th match minute, Hertha 1969 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harry Rupp to maneuver through the defense. In the 9th minute, Lutz Ertel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Pedro de Queirós was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 14 minutes into the match, America Futebol Clube SP's goal looked a bit too open when Lutz Ertel came free, but Zé Pedro de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zé Pedro de Queirós came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Hertha 1969's Lutz Ertel. But to his dismay, Lutz Ertel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Zé Pedro de Queirós made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lutz Ertel in the 18th minute of play. The supporters of Hertha 1969 booed when America Futebol Clube SP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitório Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Hertha 1969's Lutz Ertel tried to score from far away in the 24th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, America Futebol Clube SP's Nestor Berger got a free kick in the 25th minute. After 25 played minutes, Hertha 1969's Lutz Ertel shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Zé Pedro de Queirós came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hertha 1969 reached it. America Futebol Clube SP's Nilton Sanches shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 27th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Alf Kleinert but with some difficulty. Maxim Nissen scored 0-4 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zé Pedro de Queirós, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Juarês Vides could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Alf Kleinert made a huge save. In the 34th minute, Lutz Ertel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Pedro de Queirós was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Maxim Nissen hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice moves Nilton Sanches could shoot a difficult shot in the 40th minute, which Alf Kleinert however easily saved by the left post. Zé Pedro de Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andi Godescheid, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Nico Bell took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zé Pedro de Queirós. Zé Pedro de Queirós dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6.

The wind increased when Lutz Ertel made the kick off in the second half. In the 59th minute of the match America Futebol Clube SP got a corner. Hertha 1969's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nilton Sanches ran over to the corner to take the kick. Maxim Nissen hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Karsten Wolsch came free with the goalkeeper in the 72nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Zé Pedro de Queirós could save by the left post. Zé Pedro de Queirós stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lutz Ertel's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. Zé Pedro de Queirós made an important save on a dangerous shot by Karsten Wolsch in the 75th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Maxim Nissen kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Zé Pedro de Queirós. That made the score 0-7 in the 78 minute of play. Zé Pedro de Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maxim Nissen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zé Pedro de Queirós made an important save on a dangerous shot by Maxim Nissen in the 83rd minute. In the 87th minute, Hertha 1969's Lutz Ertel dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-8. Karsten Wolsch charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Karsten Wolsch the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 91 played minutes Hertha 1969 got a freekick which was hit by Karsten Wolsch. Andi Godescheid recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Hertha 1969 booed when America Futebol Clube SP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enéas Domingues didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hertha 1969's Karsten Wolsch got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
